Santa Filomena - PE

Around 10:00 am on August 19, 2020, a loud explosion was heard followed by a meteor shower over the small town of Santa Filomena-PE. At least two houses were hit by meteorites, one of which was a 2.8 kg piece that fell on the houses of the residents Ms. Socorro and Mr. Genilson, in front of the municipal church. Upon learning of what happened, I knew that this was my opportunity to be present and hunt for meteorites in a fall observed in Brazil, this way I bought the plane tickets and arrived in the city of Santa Filomena on the 27th of August.

We are a family owned and operated business.

I paid a visit to the house hit by the meteorite, where I was very well received by Mrs. Socorro and Mr. Genilson. Mrs. Socorro can detail the fright that went with the impact of the meteorite in your house. As a gift I got roof tiles broken by the impact of the meteorite that Mr. Genilson kindly presented to me.

The coolest part of this expedition was being able to meet in person people that I had admired for a long time, like Michael Farmer, Robert Ward, André Moutinho and Roberto Vargas, great meteorite collectors. On the second day in Santa Filomena, it was my birthday where I celebrated with them in the only pizzeria in town.

Alguns fragmentos adquiridos na expedição.

Caatinga, alguns lugares eram muito difícil de adentrar, repleto de espinhos e vegetação seca.

Individual orientado, a peça mais bonito que adquiri na viagem.
